Welcome to the

Valley Points
Family YMCA

In one way or another, we're all connected to the Y. Whether it's where you discovered a talent that became a lifelong passion, were encouraged by a mentor, or where you turn for support with a healthy lifestyle.

At the Valley Points Family YMCA, we believe our programming lays the groundwork for healthy futures, builds a sense of community, and conveys the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Yes, children learn to swim, kids have somewhere to go after school and we teach about healthy lifestyles, but the Y is far more than that. The Y is a place where kids find direction, families come together and people rally to make a difference.

With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that people of all ages and from all walks of life have access to the essentials needed to be more healthy, confident, connected and secure.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE Y

Stingrays Swim Team

Is the summer never long enough for your children? If they love the water and you can't get them out of the pool, maybe it's time to turn that love into a sport they will use the rest of their lives. Give them a competitive edge as a member of the Valley Points Family YMCA Stingrays Swim Team!

The Valley Points Family YMCA Stingrays Swim Team is open to all swimmers ages 5 to 18 (as of December 1st) who can swim one length of the pool (freestyle, with rotary breathing). Swimmers must have a current Valley Points Family YMCA membership to participate.

Practices are held in New Kensington at the Valley High School pool on week-night evenings. Regular practices begin in September and continue through late February. Our qualified coaching staff has developed workouts and stroke instruction to build technique, strength and endurance. Swimmers may practice every night or select the nights that best fit their schedule. YMCA team swimming is structured to permit your child to be as competitive as they choose to be. Many swimmers swim for the exercise, the competition, or for the sheer enjoyment of being part of the team.

The Stingrays compete in the Western PA YMCA Swim League and can go on to swim at YMCA District, State and National Championship meets if they qualify. Mandatory dual meets and optional meets take place throughout the season in various locations. The Stingrays host the Last Splash Invitational in February, which is one of the last invitationals before the District meet.
