Welcome to the

Valley Points
Family YMCA

In one way or another, we're all connected to the Y. Whether it's where you discovered a talent that became a lifelong passion, were encouraged by a mentor, or where you turn for support with a healthy lifestyle.

At the Valley Points Family YMCA, we believe our programming lays the groundwork for healthy futures, builds a sense of community, and conveys the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Yes, children learn to swim, kids have somewhere to go after school and we teach about healthy lifestyles, but the Y is far more than that. The Y is a place where kids find direction, families come together and people rally to make a difference.

With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that people of all ages and from all walks of life have access to the essentials needed to be more healthy, confident, connected and secure.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE Y

Super Why! is coming to the YMCA! Join us this summer as we partner with WQED to present Super WHY! Summer Reading Camp. This one-week camp is for children 4-7 years old to learn and enhance their reading skills. The camp runs from 8:45am through noon, and will take place throughout the summer at various Ys throughout out region. Children get to join their favorite Super WHY! characters on an interactive journey through the classic story of The Three Little Pigs

Super WHY! was created with one goal in mind:  to ensure that every child becomes a successful reader. The Super WHY! Reading Camp increases children's ability to decode words, correctly spell given words, identify letters that make a given sound and correctly read words and identify opposites. With its strong, research-based curriculum, engaging interactive approach and relatable superhero characters, the Super WHY! Reading Camp will help build literacy skills for children from all walks of life.

Parents much choose which YMCA location their child will attend (dates vary according to location). The fee for Super WHY Reading Camp is $75 for YMCA and/or WQED members ($100 for non-members). Sites include:

  • Ligonier Valley YMCA
  • Valley Points Family YMCA
  • Greensburg YMCA
  • YMCA of Laurel Highlands
